The Shelter Outreach Project The Shelter Outreach Project is a statewide initiative to educate the public about rabbits as companion animals and to support rabbit adoptions at animal shelters across the state that typically do not have specialized knowledge of domestic rabbits. The main objective of the project is to provide educational material in the form of new adoption packets to make sure that adopters have accurate information when bringing a rabbit into their home. Having access to the information will educate potential adopters and help them to decide if a rabbit is the right pet for them, and will ensure a greater chance of success that the adopted rabbit will have a happy, healthy, lifelong home. If you are affiliated with an animal shelter, please feel free to download, print & distribute the adoption packet information sheets below. We will also provide, to Oklahoma shelters on request, a laminated poster that highlights some little known facts about domestic rabbits & encourages rabbit adoption. If you have any questions about the project, or rabbits in general, please feel free to contact us. If you already share your home with a rabbit or are thinking about adopting, please feel free to download and use the sheets as a quick reference or as an introduction to caring for a domestic rabbit. The information sheets included in the adoption packet are not intended to be comprehensive, but to give new adopters a quick reference on topics that are important when bringing a rabbit into their home. Additional information on rabbit care can be found by visiting some of the websites on our Rabbit Links page. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.
